Michelle's Stage 4 Breast Cancer Battle

Where to begin...about a year ago I found a lump in my right breast. I had/have no insurance so I didn't know what to do or where to turn to have it looked at. At work we have a pre screening mammogram bus that comes once a month so I checked with them to see if I qualified for a pre screening but unfortunately because I am seasonal and not full or part time I didn't qualify. They gave me a card for a non profit group but when I called them I had just aged out of the system for them. So I was back to square one, a lump that was now growing and changing, no insurance, and no idea what to do so I did nothing and hoped for the best. Well the best didn't come and it continued to change in size and appearance (I could now see it on the surface of my skin) so I made an appointment at the clinic at work to get a referral for a mammogram so I could save up to pay out of pocket. As I was leaving the case manager stopped me and told me they had found another non profit. It took about a month to get that non profit to approve me and another month to get my mammogram scheduled. Well that mammogram was supposed to be on Tuesday June 27th but when I got up on the morning of June 25th that spot was bleeding and it wasn't stopping so I went to the hospital. Initially I went to ORMC and was admitted there for 3.5 days and they did a sonogram and a CT Scan and said they found a mass in both breasts, a mass in both lungs, and a mass in both kidneys. They then decided the least invasive biopsy they could do was a bronchoscopy to determine if the mass in my lung showed breast cancer cells so we would know if all the masses were coming from the breast or if they were another type of cancer. As soon as they completed that procedure they almost immediately discharged me. I tried to appeal that decision and was told that because I hade no insurance I could not appeal it so out I went. About 4 hours later I was being admitted at AdventHealth Winter Park where I was until July 2nd. They ran a gamut of tests, did a lot of bloodwork, and did scans, basically what ORMC didn't think of the Doctors at AdventHealth did. Now, fast forward to July 3rd when I got the call from ORMC with my bronchoscopy results. I received the official diagnosis, I have Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. My fight will likely start in the very near future. I'm very optimistic and know I'm going to beat this! There are so many treatment options and new ones coming out every day so I know I got this! This gofund me is to cover what isn't covered by other resources. Thank you for every bit of assistance you are able to give from financial donations to sharing, it's all appreciated.
