Mick Goodrick's illness, spirit and gratitude.

Donation protected
Friends, peers, colleagues and most of all supporters and music lovers, on November 16, 2022, Mick passed away in the loving presence of his closest friends. The help and expertise of teams of professionals tended him to the very end all the time seeing to his comfort.
During his life, Mick used his resources he received from teaching and recordings to quietly help students who he'd worked with, musicians and artists who he saw could benefit from his help and he provided anonymous gifts, instruments and financial support so musicians, especially promising musicians could book gigs and concerts. He worked with club owners and organizers to provide the rental fees and guarantees for those he could help.
The money in this GoFundMe will be used towards settling his medical expenses and setting up an ongoing foundation to republish his out of print works, publish new work he'd written, pay for teachers to teach the material he'd written in the Almanacs and Melodic Harmony books and release the wealth of unreleased recordings he'd made during his lifetime. This GoFundMe will now help his dream of giving his life to Advancing artists all over.
For Mick, the purpose of music and art is to find the individual's own self and he expanded the language so the world could be richer with the diversity of voices.
Your help is greatly appreciated and this GoFundMe will be closed in the following week or so. This was Mick's vision: To let his life, mind and resources be used to provide the opportunities he had. Thank you Mick.
From the original Campaign message:
Mick Goodrick has had a singular devotion to music and the search for the unified field theory of harmony, life and music that challenged every student and guitarist to find a broader expression of themselves. He has provided a guiding light to many advancing guitarists looking to invent their own way of playing and, in doing so, has shaped the sound of this generation. To Mick, teaching and playing is a gift that he can give away to everyone, and it just makes him more fulfilled in the doing.

In the two years since his retirement from Berklee, he's been organizing his many unpublished works and setting up a foundation devoted to helping educate and fund musical endeavors. All that has come to an abrupt halt as the disease has taken an aggressive turn.

About two months ago, he had a fall, and while in the hospital for his broken hip and rehab, he was exposed to and contracted COVID. In the complications that followed, he received the best private medical care he could receive in the comfort of his home.
Thank you for providing this for Mick.

Please take a moment to think about the profound gift that is music and a man who has given so much over the years to expanding and advancing our lives. Please take a moment to appreciate life, sound and the ways we help one another by sharing. Thank you.
