Mickey Stewart

In August, my cousin's husband Mickey went to the eye doctor for issues he was having with his vision. After a 3-hour visit and many tests, the eye doctor sent him directly to the ER for an MRI. The MRI done at Kettering Hospital had shown a mass behind his left eye. Removal of the tumor was scheduled for September. The removal of the tumor was successful, and the doctors believed they got all or most of the mass out. Unfortunately, Mickey continued to have lots of vision issues, so they went back to the doctor. They discovered a new blood vessel tumor that had grown back quickly and much bigger. This tumor was pressing on his optic nerve. On November 7th, Mickey had an angiogram. After the procedure, Mickey was unable to wake up, talk or move, so immediately he had more scans. The scans revealed that during this procedure, he had mini-strokes. Mickey was in the ICU for several days and moved to a regular hospital floor while they closely monitored him and assessed what needed to be done. He has since made progress, but still has a very long road ahead for full recovery. He is in a rehabilitation facility relearning how to walk, talk, read, write and get all the functionality back after the mini strokes. The doctors say that the most progress should be made in 3-6 months, but it will take a year or more for a full recovery. Mickey is self-employed, therefore income will not be coming in while he is in rehabilitation. Mikayla is starting a new job at Soin, but had to push back her start date to be at the hospital to help Mickey communicate and be by his side. Everyone has wanted to know what they can do to help out. Financial help would be a great way for us to show our love and support to help cover daily living costs and any medical costs.
