Mid Ulster Candiate Under IFP Banner
Donation protected
I'm a member of the Irish Freedom Party standing as an independent Pro-Life nationalist in the Mid Ulster constituency of the Westminster election.
I am running under the Irish Freedom Party banner, and would have been officially running as a party candidate had we been registered in time (moves are underway to be ready for the next time).
As you can see from my attached campaign mailout, my manifesto incorporates the IFP program (For legal reasons I had to remove the word "party" from the term "Irish Freedom Party" on the mailout version but it's there on the version for handing out).
I've been canvassing since Friday and the reception is very good on the doorstep. There is a deep frustration with the current Stormont impasse, directed at the main parties for allowing local government to stall, causing issues with funding in, for example, health services. The new abortion law is unpopular also. I also have the opportunity to introduce the Irexit argument, which many are hearing for the first time, and some are able to see beyond Brexit and start grappling with the reality of a post-Brexit Ireland.
In short, we have an opportunity here in Mid Ulster to a) capitalise on a protest vote and b) introduce our ideas directly, many of which are new to the public.
However I am the "lone voice crying in the wilderness" and I could do with some help. Right now for canvassing. There are more than 70,000 votes and almost 40,000 households in the constituency, more than I can possibly cover on my own in three months, never mind ten days.
I will be out every day on the doorstep between now and election day Thurs 12th Dec, having cleared my diary to be free daytime and evening. If you can spare a day (or more, I have limited bed space and unlimited floor space) to help the cause, that would be greatly appreciated, and may help members practice their pitch for the upcoming election in the twenty-six counties.
I have self-financed the candidate deposit, £500, which I am unlikely to recoup (the quota is >5%), also the leaflets at £600, and shortly the party will set up a GoFundMe to help me recoup some/all of that. Please consider making a donation of up to £50 value (donations over £50 need to be from donors within the UK or I cannot accept them legally).
