Midcoast Community Prom
Donation protected
This year has brought its fair share of challenges, and our community’s high school seniors and their families have felt more than their share of them. We are busy getting plans underway for the Midcoast Community Prom for the first weekend of August.
We wanted to make sure these young people get to enjoy some of life's important high school milestones, like prom.
We will be holding the prom outdoors, under a large tent in Rockport Harbor, with a spacious dance floor, so the prom goers have plenty of room to keep their social distances. Doing this outdoors, also allows for free flowing air and room to roam around, and plenty of room to social distances. We will have lots of hand sanitizer, and those who feel more comfortable can wear face coverings.
We are preparing for the governor's guidelines of events of up to 50, but hoping that by August it will be better. To accommodate groups of 50, we will be hosting the event multiple sessions. We will be using a ticket system acquired at our shop.
The prom sessions themselves will be a couple hours long, allowing time for the students to go out to dinner to our community’s restaurants and get memorable photos taken.
This event will be a collaboration of community volunteers and businesses to make this happen for our area high school students, especially seniors who have already missed out on all the other events they were looking forward to this year.
The challenge we face is organizing the event, without putting the cost on to these students and families to fund the prom. We are seeking contributions from the community to pay for such items as the tent, rentals, decorations ect.
We hope you can aid us in this effort by contributing to Midcoast Community Prom. Any remaining donations will given to the AIO Food Pantry.
