Midnight walk in honour of our Maria O’Neill

Hey! Long post so please read if you can

I am taking part in the midnight walk for St. Andrews hospice on the 18th. All donations will go towards the hospice. St. Andrews hospice reputation precedes itself, everyone knows how truly amazing they are. I just want to give everyone an insight into why I want to support the hospice so much.

Maria was admitted on the Tuesday, the staff at the door firstly welcomed me with a supportive hold as Maria was taken to her room. Her nurses were constantly in checking on her throughout her first day and made sure she was as comfortable as possible. She was given a large family room meaning all of us and Mila had space. Throughout Maria’s stay, the staff from the front desk reception to the nurses and health care assistants were absolutely amazing considering the circumstances. We were made to feel welcome and just to be told it’s going to be ok at certain points really meant more to us than the staff will ever know.

Then night of Maria’s passing, the hospice allowed her family in and comforted us in the best way they could. Nothing was ever too much of an ask.

I totally appreciate times are tough and people are struggling with the cost of living. If you find yourself in the position to donate please do so and if not I ask if you could please share this post.
