Explosion Fund for Midpoint Employee’s HighlandsNC

Donation protected
Midpoint Highlands Restaurant suffered a gas explosion on Friday June 30, 2023. Due to this explosion two employees were sent to the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital, one was released and another transferred to Mission Hospital for 6 hours and then to the JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital, Augusta GA. A third employee (a server) also went for a checkup, as they are in their last trimester and their child is due in September. This fund is set up for the sole purpose of covering expenses not covered by insurance for the burn victim and employees, who have not taken jobs elsewhere, for daily living expenses while out of work to offset expenses like transportation, rehabilitation, doctors visits, rent, utilities and food. Through the gracious community support we have on the Plateau, Swift Accounting Highlands-Cashiers-Clayton and Blue Ridge Mountain Law located in Sapphire have donated their time at no expense and agreed to oversee the accounting and dispersing of funds received from donors. It is unfortunate that this tragedy happened and at the height of our mountain season to be unemployed while rebuilding the damaged interior and structural compromised areas from the explosion. Everyone appreciates your support and kindness during this unfortunate tragedy.
