Midwest Books to Prisoners Building Fundraiser

Tax deductible
For eight years, Midwest Books to Prisoners had been hosted by First Trinity Lutheran Church in the community center (popularly known as the Orphanage). Earlier this month, the congregation held a special meeting and voted to dissolve and close down.

We are deeply saddened by this highly contentious decision which came down to a single vote. The memories of all the people, projects, and events that have passed through First Trinity - God’s Closet, the Trinity House, the youth ministry, the DIY music scene, and more - have defined the space as an essential community service, an important cultural hub, and a historic landmark.

We’re still meeting there every Saturday for the time being, but it could be over soon, possibly as early as June 30th. Our work must continue, so we're looking for ideas, funding, and partnerships to help us through this difficult time. All money raised here will go towards our next space, or if no funds are needed, to be spent on postage for incarcerated people.

Thank you,
Midwest Books to Prisoners
