Midwifery Exchange in Ghana
Donation protected
Help Anastasia Hallisey, Jill Litkowski and Carly Detterman support lifesaving training to midwives in Ghana!
Many births in Ghana occur in remote areas. Midwives carry the brunt of responsibility for maternal health care in Ghana, often working in dangerous circumstances. Newborns who need support after delivery often do not survive the distance it takes to travel to the nearest hospital. It is vital midwives have up-to-date competency to deal with emergencies.
- Helping Babies Breathe is a global program designed to empower midwives to learn lifesaving training to support babies in their first moments of life and increase the survival rate for newborns.
- Donations from GFM (THANK YOU!) provided trainings for midwives to become experts in teaching the curriculum.
- We provide funds that support those efforts in the form of gas, internet, and individual stipends.
- Our latest partnership with GynZone has expanded our continuing education to include perineal management and repair in childbirth. They have provided equivalent of $15,000 in-kind donations to our midwives in Ghana.
