Mighty Maverick Needs our Help!

This is my nephew Mighty Maverick! He acquired that nickname shortly after he was born. Unfortunately, within days of him being born, he contracted E Coli and had Meningitis in the brain. This caused his Hydrocephalus and they had to place a shunt in his brain to help drain the fluid building up. He spent his first 3 months in the hospital but he persevered and in the last couple years has become very happy, active toddler. His smile and laugh is infectious and he LOVES his Puppy Dog Pals!!
Sadly this week, what should have been a standard toddler tumble off the couch, ended up with a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain. He was transported via Helicopter from his home town in Idyllwild to the Loma Linda Children's Hospital that night. They rushed him into the Operating room and began a very intense operation to open his skull and remove the fluid building up. What they found when they went in is that Mighty Mavericks skull is the thickness of a 6 month old baby. They are not sure if the shunt was malfunctioning and not letting the fluid drain, which could have caused the skull to thin or what is going on. But this little guy has a long road ahead of him to healing.
My Sister Brianna and her boyfriend Bert (Mavericks Father) have been trading places in the hospital so someone can always be with Maverick and of course someone still be home for their 1 year old son Quincy. My sister also has 3 other wonderful children from a previous marriage and has been able to be a stay at home Mom since Maverick was born. Bert is a Head Chef for a local restaurant and runs his own Landscape business. Unfortunately, with the pandemic going on, things are definitely hard in the restaurant business and the county has been shut down again.
Maverick has a long road of surgeries and hospital stays in his future and the last thing they need to be worrying about is how they are going to be able to pay the bills and medical expenses that this can all entail. We ask for your help in donating as much or as little as you can, or even just sharing this page as there is not much else we can do to help this family out right now. We have family to help them with the other kids and I believe someone will be setting up a meal train for them so that they won't have to worry about that either.
At the very least, please keep Maverick and this family in your prayers and hope for a speedy recovery for our little Mighty Maverick.
