This is Miguel Nunez. A loving father of 3, a member of Concord fire department and a ranking officer with Riders of Elkhart (ROE). He holds title of Road Captain. On July 18th, Miguel and some of his peers from ROE hosted a "Bike lives Matter ride " when something went wrong laying 6 bikes in total out. Several indivudals are in critical condition, 1 passed away and Miguel was medflighted to Memorial. It was originally believed that he had a skull fracture but after further testing thats not the case. However his condition did require surgery as he broke his upper femur, has a chip in his left hip and back, gashes on the bottom of both legs and road rash on his left shoulder. He is out of surgery and doing well. He has the rod in his femur. When they went in they found some extensive damage to his knee that they didn’t know prior to surgery. They had to pin his knee to immobilize it to stop any further damage. He has pins from his lower leg all the way up. They said it will be multiple surgeries to fix but the dr that did the leg does not do knees so he will be consulting with his partner. They will know more later today after further assessment.
Thank you all for prayers and well wishes . He will have along road to recovery and will likely be laid up for a period of time. Please consider a donation in order to help with these multiple surgeries and expenses that come with an accident of this magnitude ❤️
