Miguelito, There's Still Good In This World!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I am fundraising for my partner Miguel Velazquez.
As many of you know, Miguel and I just picked up our lives in Chicago and moved across the country to Los Angeles, California, to pursue our dreams less than two months ago.

Unfortunately, Miguel fell victim to a hit and run on August 14th, early Sunday morning, coming home from work at De La Nonna. Miguel was struck from behind on his moped while stopped at a red light. After launching Miguel into the air about 15 feet from his scooter, he landed on his wrists, causing both wrists to break. His tailbone was injured making it difficult for him to sit and walk. Those who know him know that Miguel is an avid artist, hiker, and loves to play video games.
Miguel loves to serve others and works as a server at De La Nonna in the Arts District in Downtown LA. This accident left Miguel unable to work. Since we just moved to California, he started work recently and had just purchased the moped to get to work. We arrived here in California less than two months ago and Miguel just began his job here about a month ago so, unfortunately, he does not qualify for health insurance yet. Miguel is not eligible for CA State Disability, for you must have worked in CA for at least 6 months.

I can't put into words how grateful I feel that he is still alive after getting hit at such a high speed and neglected by the reckless driver.
Each day is another challenge for Miguel, and it will be for a while, but his spirit is unbreakable. He remains positive and hopeful. He constantly reminds me that people are good and we will be okay.
Please help remind Miguelito of those same two things at a time when he needs it most.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all so very much.
-Sarah and Miguel
