Miguel's Story

Donation protected
In August of 2015, at 28 years of age, Miguel Garcia was diagnosed with a terrible brain cancer known as glioblastoma multiforme. He was given 16 months to live. He has spent the past year fighting. His mother moved into his apartment to be by his side. Every day consisted of him being chauffeured to work by his mother (the tumor having damaged his vision and preventing him from driving) for 8 hours to pay his bills and coming home to lie down and recover from the multitude of medications, the radiation and the chemotherapy he is on.

Almost twelve months later he was told that the cancer had spread to his spinal fluid. Doctors gave him two choices: he could have surgery to keep the cancer at bay for, at most, 5-6 months or he could live 4 weeks with no treatment. He again chose to fight. He cites his family as his inspiration for his fight, specifically his desire to see his two nephews grow into adulthood.

Miguel has been told that the treatment didn't work and that he truly only has weeks to live. He's opted to begin another kind of chemotherapy in hopes of extending his life but doctors have informed him that there is very little hope of this being a success.

Miguel has undergone 3 surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy in an effort to continue to live and see the day when he is cancer-free. Unfortunately, Miguel has been losing his battle against cancer. Doctor's have told him that his time is limited. This GoFundMe account has been set up to help Miguel and his family make special memories and help offset the many expenses due to medical bills. He's spent the last year of his life working and medicated. He was forced to leave his job when he became too ill to successfully perform the functions and he now has inadequate income. The financial need is constantly increasing. For example: Miguel is unable to walk much on his own anymore and will need a wheelchair to get around. His family will also need the money for financial help to cover funeral expenses.

Please consider blessing Miguel and his family this summer by helping to make positive lasting memories for them and giving them financial peace of mind as they come to grips with the sad reality they are facing. The family greatly appreciates the prayers, donations and support of the community!
