Mikayla Zias Medical Bills

Hi, my name is Ali, and I’m raising funds to help support my best friend, Mikayla cover the cost of medical expenses with her upcoming surgeries.

Mikayla is the kindest, most beautiful, vibrant person that was dealt a rough hand of cards recently. On March 21, Mikayla woke up in extreme pain which resulted in a trip to the ER. At the ER Mikayla was informed that the pain was caused by a kidney stone but with further testing Weirton Medical found what they thought was a large mass in her abdomen. At this time they continued with CT Scans, MRI’s and endless bloodwork. Weirton Medical informed Mikayla that after a review of her scans, there were not one, but two tumors. One 10 cm tumor that is touching her spleen and pancreas and the second, 10 cm tumor that is on her liver.

Mikayla was transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on March 22 for further testing to see if the tumors were cancerous. Mikayla went through more rounds of scans, blood work and uncertainty as she waited for any results. Mikayla was discharged home on March 24th and was informed that a biopsy was needed for further information. Mikayla went back to Allegany General Hospital the following week and underwent an endoscopic ultrasound where they were able to take fluid from the tumor on her spleen and pancreas. Unfortunately, the results came back as “unknown”.

Mikayla will be undergoing her first of two surgeries at the end of April and will have half of her pancreas and her entire spleen removed to ensure the tumor is gone. She will be in recovery for 8 weeks and then will undergo her second surgery, once the doctors feel it is safe, to remove half of her liver and her gallbladder to ensure that the tumor is also gone.

The next few months will not be easy, so I’m asking for donations to take a little bit of the burden off of her and her family. She will be out of work for a few months as she has both surgeries and will need time to recover. Please consider contributing to her medical expenses.
