Mikayla's Heart Transplant Journey

Hello, my name is Kaylee Fulkerson. I am Mikayla Millers' sister in law.

My sister , Montana Miller, just married the love of her life in November of 2023. While most newly wedded couples are able to enjoy their season of marriage, Mikayla and Montana have been faced with having to make extremely difficult medical decisions regarding Mikayla's heart health.

After a series of hospitalizations and emergency room visits throughout the last few weeks, it has been determined that a heart transplant is the next step for Mikayla. She is currently in the ICU and is in the beginning stages of meeting with various doctors to make sure her body is as healthy as possible for this procedure. Her heart muscle has been as strong as it could be for 20+ years after being damaged from an aggressive form of chemotherapy to treat the Osteosarcoma she had as a child. As you can imagine this is taxing mentally, emotionally and financially for them.

Montana has been by Mikayla's side every step of the way and will need to continue to do so throughout this process. Unfortunately, medical bills, mortgage payments and monthly bills will continue to accrue while they face the unimaginable. As you can imagine, she is trying her best to stay focused and positive for what is to come in the next several months.
