Mike and Connie Need Our Support
Donation protected
Three months ago, Connie and Mike’s life changed. On November 2, 2022. Mike went to work as usual. He suddenly started confusing his words. Mike was taken to the ER, and they discovered that he had a brain tumor. He underwent surgery the next day, November 3, their wedding anniversary.
Mike was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He began chemo and radiation therapy for a six-week period, which required driving back and forth from Wilmington five days a week. This therapy ended in January.
Soon, Mike will begin treatment using Optune, a wearable, portable, FDA-approved device used to treat glioblastoma. Although they don’t have the final cost yet for this treatment, they know it will be very costly.
Mike and Connie are not accustomed to asking for help. They are givers. They have been very reluctant to be on the receiving end. While Mike went through the six weeks of chemo and radiation treatment, they agreed to accept meals and donations provided through a meal train organized by a small group of friends. They were very appreciative of the support given during that time but continued to decline offers to set up additional support, until now. The medical bills are piling up, and they currently have no income.
As overwhelming as this must be, Connie and Mike present an upbeat and positive attitude as they continue to be there for their grandchildren, attending school band concerts and manning the Girl Scout cookie booths. They have a difficult journey ahead. We would like to alleviate the worry of financial hardships. Your donations will go a long way in helping to ease the emotional stress.
