A little goes along way

As many of you know there has been an abrupt change for this family. Mike has been diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, a very rare blood cancer. He has been at UCSF since Thursday, September 23rd and was placed in a medically induced coma, spent 12 days on a ventilator because he had to have emergency surgery to drain the fluid from his brain, was receiving dialysis 24/7 for 10 days, and is currently receiving chemo through his spine ever other day for now. Everyone is ecstatic that Mike is off of the ventilator & dialysis and is slowly improving daily. Although Mike is not 'out of the woods' he is absolutely in stable condition and was finally transferred out of ICU after 18 very stressful days into the Oncology Department. Mike will continue his treatment in the hospital for now and we currently don't know what his extended treatments or needs will be. They also at this time do not know when he will be released.

 

With that being said, many have asked how they can help so we have decided to set this up to help the family offset the extra expenses that are coming in. Toni is staying with family closer to the hospital and is traveling into San Francisco daily to be with Mike.

 

Toni has expressed her extreme gratitude for the overwhelming support they have already received and greatly appreciate the love and prayers that they believe is what gave Mike this fighting chance.

 

Please continue to pray for Mike and the family in this very difficult time, with all of the upcoming uncertainty ahead we only hope that it is a smooth transition.
