Mike “Pappy” Baranek

March 1, 1947 - June 6, 2023

Mike “Pappy” Baranek died Tuesday riding into the sunset.

Brother to Barbara/Bill Lane; Robert “Pete”/Darlene; and John/Anne, Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Peg “Poodi” Baranek (1949-2023) and he is survived by their four children (Amy/Mike, MG, Andy and Erin/Dante) and eight grandchildren (Michael, Matthew, Celia, Marc, Tobey, Mia, Giana, and Dante) - all of whom he lived for and cherished with his whole heart.

“Bondo” was an original Hoban Knight (‘65) and a decorated combat Vietnam Veteran. He dedicated 31 years to FirstEnergy before starting a small business in Stow.

The fortunate many whose lives he touched will grieve the loss of Mike’s infinite patience, unparalleled work ethic, meticulous nature, and ability to fix all things mechanical.

Those he left behind feel such a loss and would give anything for just a ‘scosche’ more time.

We plan to honor Mike with a full military ceremony TBD. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA 12-3).
