Mike Boyle's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Heather. My sister, Melissa, and I are fundraising to help cover the cost of travel expenses for our family to be able to visit with our dad while he remains in the hospital in the ICU at UNC. Here is a little back story about him and how we got to this place:
Mike Boyle is an active, outgoing, generous, and joyful person. He enjoys ballroom dancing, having dinner and margaritas with his friends, going on trips with his girlfriend, Asunda, long motorcycle rides, and video chatting with his three grandkids. Mike is an Air Force veteran who spends his free time helping others, including driving the firetruck for the local fire department. Mike doesn't know the word 'no' when it comes to someone asking for help. He goes above and beyond, even when it isn't asked of him.
On Saturday, July 8th, my dad was riding his motorcycle home from an outing with his motorcycle group when a woman ran a stop sign and hit my dad at about 50mph. This accident occurred just a few days before he was to fly out to California to celebrate his daughter, Melissa, getting married. A life-changing moment that he was forced to miss and can't get back again. Not only was this devastating for Melissa, this is something we know he will be absolutely devastated about.
Our dad has suffered multiple traumas. The local hospital was unable to treat him due to the level of trauma he suffered from. He was then air-lifted to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he could receive proper treatment for his extensive injuries.
Due to this transfer, our family and his girlfriend have been driving over 120 miles a day just to be able to visit with him and speak with the doctors. We are so grateful for our family and them taking all that time and money needed, to be with our dad. Being one of 8, my dad has a very large family. We would like to be able to help those who live far away, afford the trip to visit him as well.
This is going to be a long road for our dad and our family. We would like to try to make this road to recovery easier for all who are a part of it. We are still unsure of his prognosis at this time, so every minute a loved one can spend with him is time cherished. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
