Mike Callies needs our help!

Maybe you remember him from high school. Perhaps you enjoyed listening to him and the Friday Night Poker Party on KFAI. Or maybe you met him roaming the aisles at the Guthrie or strolling the halls of the Walker Art Center.
A stalwart of the Twin Cities arts and culture scene, there are so many places where you might have run into Mike. To know Mike is to love him. And he needs our help.
Lucky for us, Mike bounced back from a series of heart attacks in 2019. But the challenges just keep coming. Doctors have been unable to diagnose this most recent round of health setbacks. He’s also developed bone spurs in his back and significant neuropathy in his legs.
To make things worse, he was laid off from work in November 2022 and his health challenges have made it hard to find a new job. He’s been powering through, though, his trademark optimism feuling him the entire way.
He’s managed so far with some savings and dipping into his small retirement fund. He’s currently on Medical Assistance, and he’s applied for general assistance and food stamps. But it takes a while for those benefits to come to fruition. In the meantime, there are bills, including urgent ones like rent, that still need to be paid.
Mike's running out of resources and he needs our support. Please give what you can, and share widely. Every little bit helps.
