Mike Campbell Liver Transplant Fundraiser

My name is Brittni, and I am starting a GoFundMe for my parents, Mike and Kim Campbell as they are going through a very difficult time. I would love to take the financial burden off of them so they can focus on the long journey of getting my dad healthy again.

They are not the type to ask for help, but I have had such an outpouring of love and people asking how they can help, and this is the absolute best way to help.

These two deserve a break more than anybody I know. They would give their shirt off their back for a stranger and never expect anything in return. All donations will go towards helping them pay their bills, towards medical bills, the abundance of medicines my dad will have to take, gas for all the trips to UVA, and so on. My mom will be off work for a minimum of 6-8 weeks with NO pay because dad is required to have someone with him at ALL times and she is the primary caregiver. I am trying to help the best I can, but I am a single working mom and can only do so much.

As some know, my dad underwent a liver transplant on the night of September 13. The surgery was successful, but there were complications. On September 15th he had to go in for an emergency surgery for an internal leak where they had to remove part of his intestines and remake his bile duct. He is now stable and is expected to return home at the end of the week. Once home, he will be on a very strict diet, my mom and I will have to give him 30+ pills a day, take his blood pressure and temperature 4 times a day, take him to UVA twice a week, and everything else.

What many don't know is the story that led us to this night. My dad Mike has been fighting for a long time.

He has been on the liver transplant list for years for liver failure but was moved to the top of the list a year ago when they found cancer in his Liver.

In one year, he has gone through 2 chemo surgeries to stop the cancer from spreading, dozens and dozens of UVA appointments for MRIs, checkups, endoscopies, etc., and got called in for a new liver 5 times only for the first 4 to fall through.

Having someone waiting for a transplant is a very difficult process, to say the least. You never know when you will get the call, and it can fall through up until the very last second in the operating room. Not to mention, he had 2 back surgeries in the last few years and my mom fell and broke her ankle last year so she couldn't walk (or work) for months.
