Mike Chenier Memorial (Every Moment Matters)
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Avery Chenier. I’m fundraising for Palliative Care. For those who don’t know what Palliative Care is, it’s a medical caregiving approach aimed at improving the quality of life and reduce suffering among people with serious and complex illnesses. It is also a support system for the families going through this difficult time.
In 2009, my grandfather, Mike Chenier was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. Surgery was then performed to remove the disease. After many months of seeing this brave man fight. He was declared, ‘Cancer-Free.’ However, in 2016, he was once again diagnosed with this illness, but this time, it was Esophageal Cancer which was more aggressive then the first time. Palliative Care made him feel comfortable, helped maintain his dignity, and the right to live out his final days the way he wanted to, the place he chose to do so and in peace. Nurses were often heard laughing along with him. After 108 days of fighting this disease, he received his angel wings on March 20th, 2017.
All of your donations will go directly to Palliative Care. One of the major challenges that Palliative Care faces would be the lack of Government Funding. It purely relies on volunteers and donors, like yourself. Together, I want to make a change and make everyone’s last days as comfortable as possible as they said their last goodbyes to loved ones.
