" I am sorry to have to ask for help yet again ( 16 months later ), but, Medicaid and another circumstance has let me down in huge fashion ! !
Medicaid would NOT retroactively pay for 2 full months of Tracy's room at the nursing facility and I am paying off their Legal Collection team $20,000.
This was after it cost me $5,000 just to GET Medicaid in place as quickly as I could.
Then, after spending $4,000 this year to get my 2006 Toyota in great shape to last another few years, a teenage girl smashed into me in late July, completely totaling my car.
After the cash value payout, I had to spend yet another $6,000 to make a decent down payment on a new vehicle.
I felt a few months ago that I could make do by simply working hard, but having another $26,000 to drain my finances has left me with NO chance of remotely slowing down as I enter my mid-60's.
Plus, as you know, I will have a very disabled wife to always take care of.
Last year, GoFundMe helped me pay the ENORMOUS air transport of getting my dear wife out of Portland and back to my hometown. That cost me $21,000 that my insurance coverage simply would not reimburse me for even after attempting legal action.
I addition to ALL of this, Medicaid is fighting me tooth and nail for quality home care because "WHY CAN'T I BE THE SOLE CAREGIVER?" Even discounting I am almost crippled with Arthritis.
Self-employed people obviously don't "count" in their narrow scheme of things.
Much of therapy, weekend and home care for Tracy when I travel to Comic Shows will now most likely come out of MY pocket. This is all so hard to believe.
My wife and I are being punished for her "daring" to be hit and almost killed by a foolish, unlicensed teenage driver.
I guess, I am again asking for just a little more help one last time.
Thank you!"
