In memory of Mike SR
Donation protected
This is the children of Michael Earney and we are so grateful to everyone who has donated to this fund.
This go fund me account has been established to help cover the costs of the funeral for our father, Michael Earney SR who died unexpectedly at the age of 53.
Funding is also needed for Michael's son, Michael Jr to use for his college education. Michael will graduate December 5 2023 with an associate degree, however he needs to go back for two more years to earn his bachelor’s degree.
Michael is the first and only one in our family to go to college and we know our dad is watching from heaven and would love to see him complete the 4 years and continue to play college football.
Because of your generosity we were able to have a wonderful home going party for our dad. But there wasn’t much left to give to Michael. He needs money for room and board, tuition, a meal plan and we’d like to help get him a car and cover a years worth of car insurance.
We are so grateful for all of you keeping us in your thoughts and prayers .
Please share our message with others as Michael has two more years of college and we know it’s our dads dream to see his only son and name same graduate college.
The funeral followed by a memorial celebration was held at Proverbs Christian Fellowship, 3210 Oliver Ave N Minneapolis Minnesota, Saturday October 14, 2023 from 2 - 6 pm.
Thank you so much to everyone who has shared stories, pictures, and donated, we are grateful to see all of the loving support from so many of you.
Obituary
At the age of 53, Michael passed away at his home in Overland Park, Kansas. He was a soul that you could attract to at any time. From just hearing his laugh to his contagious personality. Michael made friends wherever he went as he was always smiling and sharing his laughter with everyone he came in touch with. Michael had a very strong will to put food on his family's plate. He was a warrior and superhero to his children. He leaves an impact on people that will last forever.
Michael was born in Chicago and adopted by a single woman from Bay City Wisconsin, Mary Earney. He was raised in Eagan, Minnesota. Mary, a flight attendant, traveled often and would bring back clothes and gifts for Michael and his family. Michael also enjoyed traveling and took many trips to explore the United States, South Africa, Portugal and Mexico.
As a teenager, Michael was part of a break dancing crew and spent summers performing at breakdancing events. In the 1990s Michael began performing in a group called Joust the House and they recorded a handful of songs together. The group parted ways and he became a solo artist known as IceBerg Slim. He performed at iconic Minneapolis nightclubs such as First Avenue, 7th Street entry and the Red Sea and he played an integral role in the Minneapolis hip hop scene.
Michael was a chef and caterer and enjoyed preparing fresh tasty meals for his family and creating new vegan dishes for his daughters.
He is survived by his four children, Mikiesha (34) Maiyah (32) Mackie (26) and Michael (20) four grandchildren, Isaiah (11) Nova (4) Nasiah (2) and Navie (3 weeks), 3 nieces and 3 nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Earney, and his dear sister Lolita Warwick.
