Mike Fiske Fundraiser
Donation protected
This fundraiser is being created by the igus community due to the recent and sudden passing of Mike Fiske, a beloved co worker and friend.
The funds will be going to his sister Laura, who lived with Mike and shared many expenses with him and is in need of some quick support.
Here is a little bit about Mike from the eyes of his igus family.
"He has always been a hard-working team player and a true friend to many. He took the time to ask his coworkers how they were doing, always had time to listen and was happy to see everyone on Monday mornings.
For those who did not know Mike, he did not get around very easily due to a condition in his legs. He used a walker his last few years to assist him in getting around the building. He did not have a car until 3 years ago and prior to that he rode his bike to work year-round even though he has issues walking. He had a desire to work and make a difference where he could.
Mike was an unselfish person and he always put others in front of him. igus offered CPR and first aid training a few years ago. He signed up for the course and there was concern he could not finish it due to his mobility, but he wanted to try.
He completed both courses and passed. Within one month, Mike was driving to work, in a snowstorm, and observed a person face down in the snow along the side of Ferris Avenue. He stopped his car and proceeded to administered CPR until rescue arrived and the person was transported to the hospital. Later that day, East Providence police notified igus that the person Mike helped had survived and may not have made it without his assistance.
In his career, he reached several benchmarks including building one million links during his first year at igus. Over his tenure, Mike has worn out two tabletops at his station and always said “whatever you need me to do, let me know”."
