Help Mike Hammons Fight Cancer Fundraiser

It is with a very heavy heart I humbly request your help.

No one ever wants to hear those three devastating words: “You have cancer”.

In July 2022, our/my brother and dear friend Mike Hammons did hear those words when he received a diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer, in his lymph nodes, permanently altering his life path forward — which is why I am reaching out and humbly asking friends, friends of friends and those of you in our community who understand just how devastating cancer can be to ones life, for your help.

Since his diagnosis, Mike has quietly — and bravely — fought this disease, enduring multiple rounds of radiation five-days-a-week for six weeks, at the same time receiving oral chemotherapy which has come at a cost of many unfortunate side effects. Due to this being late stage cancer, Mike’s doctors have prescribed a very aggressive approach/treatment. Mike recently had to have a port surgically sewn into his chest and is currently receiving transfusion chemotherapy every other week. This recent “Throw everything at it approach" is very toxic as well and has taken a toll on Mike’s physical and mental health. Furthermore Mike, can expect to be scheduled for additional surgeries in his future, to hopefully remove the cancerous tumor.

On top of this life changing diagnosis, Mike has also had to deal with his insurance DENYING a large portion of his medical claim (unbelievable); this event has now in effect exhausted his life savings. Therefore I have convinced Mike to let me create a GoFundMe to help with his medical bills, professional overhead, as well as just covering his basic living expenses. Your donations will allow for Mike to remain focused on his fight and to return to full health. As I am sure you recognize Mike can only now work as a realtor or musician in a very limited capacity. Mike is also hoping that by sharing his diagnosis, others will focus on and appreciate their health, pay attention to any warning signs, and get recommended screenings.

Let’s rally around the man who rallies for us — who brings us joy through his music, his voice and his bass.

Let’s help him not only survive but thrive and to get back to where he once was and to doing what he LOVES which is bringing music to us.
