Mike Haney Memorial Fund

It's with great sadness, we share the unexpected passing of Mike Haney on May 18, 2023.

Mike wore many hats, leaving the communities he served with heavy hearts. He had a deep love for his profession and for helping youth strive not only in academics but in athletics. Serving as a social studies teacher for 30 years, he also coached the Mesa High swim team for 22 years and trained and mentored young lifeguards within the Chandler Aquatics program. He was loved, and respected by his students and colleagues and his passing has left us shocked and saddened.

Though he had many successes within his profession, his pride and joy were his loving family. Married to his college sweetheart, Michelle, they have two sons Jacob (18) and Sam (15). Mike was a doting father and loving husband. If you knew Mike, you know he kept his feelings guarded but not the love he had for his wife and kids--that love was easy to witness from afar. Mike is also survived by his mother, Eve Haney, as well as siblings and nieces/nephews that he loved dearly. Their grief journey has just begun and they will need the support of their village.

After giving so much of himself as a dedicated teacher and coach, please consider rallying around Michelle and the boys to aid in the unexpected financial burdens in the weeks and months to come. Please honor Mike by offering a donation and/or leaving words of support, remembrance, or love for his family. All donations will be used for Mike's services and celebration of life (details below). Any remaining funds will be put towards the boy's college tuition.
