Mike Hughes

Mike Hughes is a family man. He loves his wife Melissa and his three children, along with the rest of his family, more than anything.

Mike has the biggest heart, and is always willing to help anyone out. He’s the guy you can always call on, he’ll give you the shirt off his back.

Mike is well-known for his passion for dirt bikes and dirt bike racing. He loves to help all the kids who race, whether it be advice or an extra part. Mike is always eager to help anyone for any reason.

Right now, Mike needs some of that generosity and help returned to him. Mike has been diagnosed with a very rare cancer known as soft tissue sarcoma, which is at Stage 4. He is under the care of a doctor at UCLA who specializes in this type of cancer.

“Here is a little background of how this was discovered. Mike originally went to the doctor because of some upper stomach pain. Mike and Melissa truly thought he just needed his gallbladder removed, or something that would be a simple fix. After the first ultrasound, we knew it wasn’t going to be good news. We were told he has a 10cm mass that was pushing on major organs. The doctors had to figure out what this mass was and what damage it was doing. After all the proper scans and biopsies, Mike was immediately sent to UCLA where his diagnosis was confirmed. We learned the cancer has spread to both lungs. To say we were devastated is an understatement. We learned that this type of cancer is extremely tricky and difficult, as it isn’t like a “typical” cancer most people hear about. The specialist has given Mike a one-year life expectancy. As we are facing the most unbelievable and traumatic news, we are putting God first. Mike has been given an option to help prolong his life, and he has decided to go forward with it. He will be given a very intense chemo treatment at UCLA, where he will have to be hospitalized because it is so aggressive. We pray with God’s help the chemo will shrink the mass. This is going to be a very long and difficult journey for the Hughes family, as Mike will be staying at the UCLA hospital for his treatment.”

The donations from this Go Fund Me account will help provide the family the ability to travel from Bakersfield to Los Angeles, hotel, and hospital stays to support Mike, and additional assistance while Mike and Melissa are unable to work to ensure he gets the treatment he needs, especially when life becomes overwhelming.
