Update
I’m sure many of you have been curious about Mike’s recovery, so here is the long awaited update:
To start off this post, on behalf of the entire family, I would like to thank everyone for all the support and love that you’ve given us. This is being written by Mike’s youngest, Ella. As of September 26th, Mike has been home from the hospital. He began out patient therapy, which he attends 6 times weekly. Over the past few months, Mike has been working his butt off, making progress to regain his speech and movement. He still cannot feel the right side of his body, but he is gaining his strength back every day. While he is making really strong progress, it is a full time job taking care of him. His wife, Shanna has been his primary caretaker since he’s returned home, meaning that she hasn’t been able to return to work. She works day and night with him, making sure he gets anything and everything he needs. He’s made so much progress with her at his side. Without the extra income, it has been exhausting and stressful to continue purchasing groceries and the necessary equipment that we need. The first 6-12 months of stroke recovery is the most vital time to regain ability and continue progressing, but not being able to go to work has caused issues when it comes to finances. Until he is stable and safe to care for himself on his own, we are all hoping to buy a few months of time for Shanna to continue staying with him full time. While his therapies are covered by insurance, nothing else he needs is.

Mike has remained the same person everyone knew before, he still finds time to joke around and make people laugh, he still loves and keeps up with his football, he is still a father, a husband, a grandpa, and a friend. He has not changed at all. As he makes progress, we see more of him come out every day, and we all love him so, so much. If you can, please help us move his recovery forward. Any donations are very much appreciated and can help Mike in his future of recovery. Thank you again to all of those who have been staying in touch, wishing us the best, donating, and giving us support. You are all amazing, and we are do appreciative of you!
