It was a beautiful sunny day, a perfect afternoon to ride his pride and joy, a Big Dog chopper. He had no way of knowing his entire world, and the world of his loved ones was about to take an unexpected turn.

On March 23, 2017, at 12:55pm, Mike was traveling down Judson Road, in San Antonio, Texas. A women was attempting to exit Sams Wholesale Club, turning in the opposite direction. By witness account, she failed to yield right of way, and sped out of the parking lot, directly across the lane Mike was traveling. The posted speed limit is 40mph. After the impact, Mike was rendered unconscious and taken to SAMC, the nearest Trama 1 hospital.

As his wife and daughter were home going about their day, the doorbell rang. A SAPD Officer held the Drivers License of her beloved husband and said five words that noone wants to hear from an officer- Do you know this man? From that moment on, the Saenz family has been on a whirlwind of emotions and in a state of shock.

Mike suffered a broken left leg, left arm, dislocated left wrist, broken rib, a large laceration on his left cheek, a broken eye socket, bleeding spleen, several internal stomach bleeds, a TBI (tramatic brain injury), and an additional diagnosis of D.A.I (Diffused Axonal Injury). He had three surgeries and will require months of inpatient rehabilitation. The TBI and state of amnesia has been the main focus, and concern. Orthopedic therapy on the arm and leg will follow.

No TBI case is the same, as no two brains are alike. Mike remembers he doesn't like ketchup, but can't name a farm animal. He knows he has a wife and four children, but friends of 30+ years are unclear to him. His personality is from one extream to the other. Uncontrollable anxiety and panic attacks surface. Other times he is quiet for hours in his own thoughts. One dominant feature he has is a big smile, and a personality that engulfed a room at times. We now see an introverted personality and his genuine smile has yet to be seen.

His wife has been a powerful support, despite being the focus of alot of his outbursts. Typically minutes after he calms down he returns to a sweet man expressing his love, and looking to her for reassurance that things are going to be ok.

Mike is the kind of guy that shows up for anything his friends or family may need. He's the guy you call when your car breaks down, and you immediately rise to the top of his priorities. He's a gifted mechanic, but would never take a penny for his work from friends and family. He's the guy that shows up to help even when he isnt asked, and never takes no for an answer. Currently he is a Superintendent for a commercial restoration construction company. But his future is unknown at this point.

Mike always brings a smile, and laughter to any gathering and opens his home to all with BBQ flowing from his grill. The more the merrier in his eyes. Over the last few weeks we heard so many say "he's my best friend". That's the sum of Mike Saenz-

The adverse driver has insurance, but the legal process takes time, and financial obligations continue to grow.

His wife Heather Saenz is a sonographer. She is hourly, with no vacation or sick time. She has taken two weeks off, with no pay, to be by her husband's side. They are the typical family, two car loans, two student loans, insurance premiums, rent, utilities, and a 15 year old daughter at home. Unfortunately, due to financial obligations, Heather was forced to returned to work to sustain their household.

Today, on behalf of Mike and Heather Saenz, we are asking for you to help contribute to their financial needs at this moment.

Heather and Mike never dreamed they would need this level of assistance. They are the kind of people that pay their bills on time, in full before they eat. They dont have a lazy bone in their body, and would never ask for financial help from anyone if the circumstances were any different.

Your generosity will in essense help replace at least a portion of his payroll, to help sustain their houshold while he recovers.

Do you know the emense value in a three second delay in your day? Three seconds would have allowed Mike to pass that car and go home to his family that day.

While we appreciate any size donation, we are just as grateful for your prayers. Also, PLEASE share this Go Fund Me link!! You may be the connection to someone that can relate to this story and impact this family. Maybe someone that has recovered from a TBI, or cares for someone that hasn't.

Please help in any way you feel compelled.
