Mike Thrall on his road to cancer recovery
Donation protected
One of our longtime crew members at Canteen Brewhouse has been diagnosed with throat cancer. Mike Thrall has worked for the Canteen and the craft beer scene for over eight years. We are sure he has poured you a pint and given you a smile at some point.
Unfortunately, Mike has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma. He will undergo major surgery on Wednesday, July 20th, where they will remove his voice box and lymph nodes; then reconstruct his throat. Hopefully, they will be able to remove all cancer surgically. Following this procedure, chemo and radiation will be next.
Mike has a long journey ahead of him and one he is tackling with high spirits and the utmost optimism. His wife Marti and two young sons are giving him fantastic support.
We know that he will be unable to work throughout this time, but bills will still have to be paid. His job is now his road to recovery, and we know he will tackle it with the brightest spirit and dedication.
We all love Mike here at the Canteen and know the craft beer community loves him too. This GoFundMe will be one of the numerous ways we plan help raise funds for Mike and his family as he undergoes these next steps. Thank you in advance for anything you can donate.
