Mike Welch - recover after Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Hi, This is Paula Teel. I am Mike Welch's sister. Florida recently suffered great losses during Hurricane Ian. The Southwest area of Florida was hardest hit. Mike lives in Englewood - in between Sarasota & Ft Myers. By all accounts, Englewood took a direct 150 MPH hit by Hurricane Ian. Mike had evacuated but had to leave his rental trailer home & handyman business belongings behind. All he took with him was what he could pack in his truck. Mike was able to go back a few days later. The trailer & most contents were destroyed. FEMA is helping a little, but nothing close to replacing his lifelong belongings and starting over. After weeks of searching, he found a small house to rent, but only for 6 months, at double the monthly rate he was paying prior to the storm. He has handyman work as many need drywall repair & painting after the storm. Mike is 79 years old & a Navy veteran & has been supporting himself for years with his handyman skills. He is originally from Midland, NC and lived most of his adult life in Virginia Beach, VA. He moved to Florida to help me in 2004. He needs to purchase a mattress (the bedframe was salvageable), couch, TV, table, etc. Most furniture & cloth goods were destroyed. He lost many tools as well. This GoFundMe is created to help him furnish his home with essential goods & be able to stay in Englewood & work. If you feel you can help, he is grateful & thankful for any help. Any funds will go directly to Mike to rebuild his life in Englewood, FL.
