My best friend and brother, Mike, struggled with depression his whole life. To honor Mike, we are going to plant a Grove of trees. You can dedicate a tree to Mike or to your friends or family. You can contribute any amount small or large. If you give $200 or more, you will get a plaque to honor your children, parents, friend, family, Mike, your dog or anyone you'd like. You can customize a plaque (up to 60 characters) in the "Leave a Comment" section - but for us to see your plaque message, you have to donate in your own name - not anonymously.
Trees are a great way to honor a person: they're strong, they're calming and make people relax, they live a long time, they're beautiful, they provide shelter for animals and birds, they're quiet, they change with the seasons, they're big, they provide the oxygen we need to live, and everyone likes trees.
Mike lived a life of service to his country, his family, his friends and the world. He attended the Naval Academy and completed tours in the Persian Gulf War. He worked tirelessly to fill the void he had in him with as much goodness as he could find including his beautiful wife and 3 children, God, therapy, exercise and sheer will. In October 2017, he lost his battle with depression and took his own life.
In addition to honoring our loved ones, we'll be contributing Mayor David Briley's Root Nashville campaign to plant 500,000 trees in Nashville.
