Mike Frederick's Medical Fund

        On behalf of the Frederick children we would like to ask for your help in raising money for our dad, Mike Frederick who has recently been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Oral Cancer.
        Our dad is 54 years old and he just discovered that he has cancer of the tongue, gland, lymph nodes, and jaw. In the next several weeks our father's first step is having most of his teeth removed and then the surgery is scheduled for January 25th. This is a very INVASIVE SURGERY as the front half of his tongue will need to be removed and a muscle from his body will be reattached and several skin grafts will need to be applied to the preexisting tongue, then they will be removing the lymph nodes, and cutting a portion of bone out of his jaw and replacing it with bone from his clavicle. This surgery requires a ten day stay in the Intensive Care Unit whereas he will have a feeding tube and a tracheotomy that he will be sent home with. The recovery for this will be at least 8-10weeks. Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments will begin immediately following the recovery. He will have a long and extremely hard recovery, and this will be detrimental to us all, but we know that if anyone can make it through this, it would be him. None of us saw this coming, our dad has always been healthy and has hardly ever missed a day of work in his life and he is the hardest working man that we know.
        He has been a loving husband to our mother, Tammy (Garlick) Frederick, for the past 28 years. They share us 3 children, Kylie-Frederick-Stevens (26) Kara (24) Michael Duke (18). Our dad is the owner /operator of Frederick Lumber in Windsor, NY. Our parents travel all over Western NY and Nationally supporting Kara and Michael Duke watching them compete with four wheeler's in the WNYOA and GNCC series. His passion comes from within his own soul as dad used to be a phenomenal dirt track racer for years so now shares his love of racing by being their number one pit guy and fan. In addition to his love for all that we listed he shares a greater love for his three year old grandson, Gavin Michael Stevens. His grandson is his buddy, when Gavin is around it's like no one else is! They share such a bond that is a blessing to us all.
        Insurance covers only so much which is why we would like to try to raise as much money to help our parents pay for some of the expenses and dads loss of income. Being that our father is self-employed his income will decrease substantially. Please find it in your heart to help our father as he is always willing to help others.
