Mike's Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hey everyone, my name is Casie. My dad, Mike, went to the hospital by ambulance in Wisconsin on November 14th due to being lethargic and very weak. While receiving treatment in the emergency room, he was informed of an 8mm kidney stone, liver lesions and a large growth near his colon. He was quickly admitted, but the journey has been anything but easy. He received a stint in his kidney, became septic, and had to do antibiotic infusions for two weeks. Most recently, he had an emergency ostomy surgery due to the mass blocking his bowels. My dad worked as a truck driver, driving cross country and delivering goods. His family is in North Carolina, while he is currently stuck in Wisconsin as we figure out the next steps from oncology. Due to his job and being on the road all the time, he doesn't have an actual brick-and-mortar home, and he lived in his truck and stayed with me when he came to visit. Currently, the hospital has him housed at a temporary cottage for cancer patients, but he was told he could not stay there indefinitely during his treatment. Currently, he cannot get back on the road, and I am creating this fundraiser to help cover the costs of room and board as he will need to move into an extended-stay hotel near the hospital campus.
My dad and I have not always been close but, he turned his life around in the past 4 years, dedicating it to Christ and his, 4 children, and 3 (about to be 4) grandchildren. We are all extremely concerned with the outcome of the diagnosis but are all holding on to hope. If you could please donate even a dollar, it would help with the uncertainty that is to come in the future.
