Hi, my name is Mike Wild and I am looking to raise £30,000!
My goal is to be the 1st person to summit the highest mountain in all 7 of the Andean countries with a çolloid cyst brain tumour!
I have always had a love for the mountains and in part I owe my life to them. A few years ago, I was climbing Cotopaxi Volcano and had to turn back due to altitude sickness. The following morning, I had an earth shattering migraine (Prior to this I had never suffered with migraines). The pain ended up getting considerably worse, so I was rushed to hospital and after an MRI they discovered that I have a colloid cyst (Which is a tumour in the centre of my brain.) which affects less than 1 in a million people.
The tumour itself has steadily been increasing in size, and it is likely that a craniotomy will be required sooner rather than later, which makes my cause time critical. Unfortunately in 90% of post op cases, people never fully regain their mental and/or physical capabilities (Albeit, I hope and pray that I am in the top 10%). Therefore, whilst I have the mental and physical capabilities, I would like to do something that:
1. Raises awareness of my condition
2. Generates money to help pioneering research for the Brain Tumour Trust Charity
1. Raises awareness of my condition
2. Generates money to help pioneering research for the Brain Tumour Trust Charity
3. Inspires other people out there, that have been struck down or afflicted with different conditions to know that as long as you have heart, perseverance and good people around you, that obstacles become hindrances, hindrances become lessons and it is those lessons that make you stronger and propel you forwards towards your goals and ambitions.
My incredible wife (Who also has a cyst in each foot) will be accompanying me on the climbs. The Cysts in her feet can be very painful at times, but she is someone who relishes adversity and has an inner strength which has left me astounded over the past 11 years of marriage.
£5000 will be donated to the Brain Tumour Trust charity, and the remainder will go towards the costs of the expeditions and medical costs.
Any donations, support and shares will be extremely appreciated and I will be detailing the progress with pictures and videos via Youtube in the coming weeks and months.
Thank you for taking the time to read this :)
