Miles for Minds : Hiking my way to Bali

Hi,

My name is Chelsea Mangwandi , a psychology student with a deep-rooted passion for mental health and emotional well-being. Over the past few years, I’ve dedicated myself to understanding and supporting others—whether through my academic journey, my work experience in mental health services, or volunteering with Samaritans, where I’ve had the privilege of being there for people in some of their most vulnerable moments.

This summer, I’ve been offered the opportunity of a lifetime: a mental health placement in Bali, where I’ll be working alongside local professionals to support communities facing unique challenges. It’s a chance to learn, contribute, and grow into the kind of mental health advocate I aim to be—both in the UK and beyond.

To fund this placement, I’m challenging myself in a way that mirrors the journey—step by step.
For every £100 milestone I reached , I’ll complete 5km walk —sharing each hike, each muddy boot, and every scenic stop with you. And when I hit my fundraising target by the end of June, I’ll mark the moment with a sunrise hike in the Peak District, a personal tribute to new beginnings.
