Miles family displaced after tragic fire.

On the evening of Sunday, January 7th my NaNNaN’s home off of Slope Drive was destroyed in a house fire. The only items we’ve found up to this point were a few blackened sentimental pieces. We are asking for the help of our community, friends, and loved ones at this most desperate time. Unfortunately there wasn’t any homeowners insurance and she lives off her social security check, which doesn’t go far.
NaNNaN has had rough go these last few months. In October her osteoporosis left her all but bed bound and hospitalized for two weeks d/t multiple back fractures. She bounced back after her procedure only to get more bad news. Labs during her hospitalization had doctors alarmed and they wanted her to follow up with oncology, where she was diagnosed with leukemia. Just before Thanksgiving she’d finally gotten her strength back enough to return to her house. Then she had a fall causing facial trauma and multiple facial fractures. With NaNNaN’s determination and not letting anything keep her down the day she had been waiting for was finally here. She was going home! She patiently waited for her son to come and take her home on the evening of Sunday, January 7th. After dark once he got here, my NaNNaN had decided it was too cold and she’d just wait until the next day hoping it may be warmer out. We were all reminiscing when we got a call that their house was engulfed in flames!
When we arrived it was obvious they no longer had a place to call home. The Fire Marshall informed us that he had believed that the fire started about 5 feet from my NaNNaN’s bedroom door where an infrared heater was plugged in and believed to be faulted. One minute NaNNaN was over the moon to finally be going home, the next, homeless! We know that if she went home as planned, there is no way my NaNNaN would have escaped that fire that started outside her bedroom door. Folks I’m telling you now if that wasn’t an example of what an amazing God we serve I don’t know what is.
We aren’t guaranteed anything during our time on earth, except that it is temporary. We are so thankful no one was home and only materialistic items were lost. Anyone able to donate anything to assist them in this time of need is greatly appreciated. If you’re not able to donate we completely understand and it’s perfectly ok. We do ask for anyone/everyone who reads of their loss to please remember them in your prayers as they attempt picking up the pieces of their displaced lives and begin trying to figure out what comes next. PLEASE SHARE!
