MILLER STREET MURAL GILGANDRA

Artist: Sam Brooks

Are you a lover of Gilgandra and keen to help keep our town vibrant and interesting to locals and visitors?

Professional Mural Artist Sam Brooks created a beautiful mural in Gulargambone's main Street last year and he will be back there in July (next month) to do another project.

We approached Sam to see if he would be available to come to Gilgandra following on, to paint a mural on the Western wall of 2 Miller Street (current home of Central Stores), which, since the recent removal of large trees has become a very visible entrance to Miller Street.

Depicting local imagery including the Castlereagh River, trees, birds and our beautiful Blue sky, we think this will create an attractive entrance to our shopping precinct, add a great backdrop to the Gilgandra Garden Club gardens, plus add to the experience of our new river walkway.

With the local building owner’s endorsement and initial funding donation, this is a privately funded project by the people of Gilgandra and those who love the town from elsewhere.

This project can only proceed if we can raise $3000 which will cover Sams professional artist fee and material expenses. If you would like be a part of this project we appreciate your donation of any amount.

Hopefully this may be just one project towards many new public art activities in our town. Every time you drive past this vibrant mural you will know it was thanks to you that it is there.

The Miller Street mural project will take place from 14 to 22 July 2019.

This is what Sam had to say: The amount of life and energy that was brought to Gulargambone last year, because of the mural festival, was absolutely mind blowing. No one could have predicted such an amazing turnout, to see everyone in the community come together and appreciate the artworks was honestly something special. If this mural can create that same type of positivity and excitement for Gilgandra then I believe this mural is a great long term investment into the tourism value of the town.

Thank you for your consideration of this public art project for Gilgandra.
