Millie and Scheibel Family

Amanda and Mason's second youngest child, Amelia, has been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the hospital since this past Saturday, fighting a horrible case of bacterial pneumonia. Pneumonia is an infection in the air sacs of the lungs that causes them to fill with fluid and decreases the ability to take in oxygen and pass it into the blood. Bacterial pneumonia is very difficult to treat as the bacteria tends to develop resistances to most of the drugs administered. Because Millie has such a serious case of this type of pneumonia she has had to undergo several chest scans, blood tests, exams and types antibiotics to try to treat the infection. She has a chest tube put in to drain excess fluid, and receiving nutrients through her IV. Millie is a strong, kind, brave and courageous young soul who needs all the support to help bring light back into their family.
