Millie's eye surgery
Donation protected
After much consideration (and tears), we have decided it is best to have Millie's eye sockets cleaned out and stitched closed. Despite our best efforts, Millie is dealing with ongoing red, irritated eyes, that sometimes even bleed. Our vet feels this is the best option for Millie, and he doesn't feel time will change this outcome. We had wanted to give Millie the opportunity to keep her eyes (which are shrunken and behind her 3rd eyelid) so she could blink and close her eyes to sleep, but Millie is showing us she would be relieved to have them closed, and not deal with the frustration of washing and applying ointment once or even twice a day, just to have them remain irritated.
Millie is blind, though she was born with eyes, it is not believed she has ever had sight. The infection she had as a young kitten was so bad, her eyes were distended past her sockets, and despite the best care, the damage is too great. Our goal now is to get Millie through her surgery, offering her the best care and pain management available. The donations received will help us cover her surgery, spay, necessary medications as well as an overnight stay. Millie's surgery is scheduled for March 24th, 2020.
Our hearts are for special needs kitties. We have 4 with varying degrees of disability. Our most prominent being Tippy who lives with chronic dizziness and a head tilt. We have Gretta who has a twisted jaw, and was born with one eye. And, there is Greycee who has severe spondylosis and her tail is paralyzed. Then of course, we have Millie, who is blind. We also help with short term medical/surgical recovery fostering.
If you are able, we would be grateful for any assistance in helping us, as we help Millie.
Thank you!
