Save our Town Park

On August 21st, 2024, Millstreet Coursing Club issued an Equity Civil Bill against the Millstreet Town Park Committee, making the following claims:

1. Millstreet Coursing Club has ownership of a section of the park located at the top of Millstreet Town Park.

2. Millstreet Town Park Committee trespassed on their property ( above mentioned section of the park) when installing a new light pole, which was intended to enhance the safety of the walking path for all members of the community.

3. Millstreet Coursing Club seek compensation for the alleged damage caused to their property during the installation of the light pole, including the costs of its planned removal and the subsequent repairs.

It is important to clarify that this Equity Civil Bill is unrelated to the hosting of the annual coursing event in the Town Park. The claims made in the bill pertain specifically to the alleged ownership of a section of the park and the associated matters outlined above.

The implementation of this Equity Civil Bill will impose significant financial burdens on Millstreet Town Park, diverting funds that could otherwise be used to improve the park’s facilities for the benefit of the entire community. It is important to note that the Town Park Committee is composed entirely of dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly for the good of the park and the community. Their commitment has always been to ensure that the park remains a valuable and inclusive space for everyone.

Now more than ever, Millstreet Town Park needs the support of the community. If we are to maintain a park where our children can play, and where people of all ages can exercise, socialise, and enjoy a safe outdoor environment, we must come together to protect it.

In response, we are launching a GoFundMe campaign to protect the park. We would be deeply grateful for your support in helping to preserve this essential community resource. Any excess funds raised will be reinvested into future improvements for our park.
