Milo’s 2x Spinal Surgery Recovery

Due to a terrible sudden injury, little Milo (just 3 years old) underwent spinal surgery for the removal of 2 herniated spinal discs and a hemotoma (T11 & T12) on March 26, and remained in Emerg until March 30, when he came home with a cathedar. He had been progressing extremely slowly since then, but was progressing❤️, with his right leg becoming stronger each day and his spirits higher.. until 5 days ago, when he suffered further spinal injury, losing most of his ability to use his right leg.

 

He is now at The VScan in Ottawa and has just had an MRI, showing disc material compressing his spinal cord and inflammation of the nerves along his spinal cord showing some level of permanent damage. The neurologist is seeing swelling in the spinal cord that was not present before. He is recommending immediate surgery (again) to remove the disc material compressing at rib #11, which is a the end of the previous surgery site.

 

The video attached may be hard to watch, but it is actually from when he was stronger… before his reinjury a few days ago, requiring today’s MRI.

 

The amount hoped for covers today’s charge of over $3700 and the over $4900 charge from his initial Emerg surgery costs.

 

I have NOT included ANY of the costs of his wheelchair, sling, cart, medication refills or rehab physio appointments.

 

His very loving owner has spent 24-hours a day for 3 months and thousands of dollars to help him, and she is beside herself about this new injury.. She feels so terrible for him. He is a pup that never ceases to bring pure joy and smiles to everyone he meets. He shows a very special kind of pure, joyous love of those who are sick, as well as elderly people, who he loves being with as often as possible.
