Milo's Knees Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Wendy, and I'm the proud pet parent of Milo. Milo has bilateral luxating patella. In other words, his knee caps are out of place in both of his rear knees. According to his X-ray, it's also very likely that his ACL is going out in both. He was born like this, but it's getting worse and is at the most severe stage. Just in the last few months, Milo has started to limp much more aggressively, he is unable to sit, and he struggles to get up and down the stairs.
We rescued Milo in September 2019, immediately after purchasing our first home. We could hardly wait to have our very own fur baby. He had various minor medical issues in our first year together, but we were unaware of the issues in his knees. In the fall of 2020, when I was only a few months pregnant with our first human baby, we were playing at a dog park when Milo started to scream out in pain. I had a friend carry him back to our house, and I was ready to bring him to the emergency vet. But as soon as the pain came, it was gone. We brought him to our vet's office the next day, and they diagnosed him with bilateral luxating patella. There was no way we could come up with the funds to afford Milo's surgery, but the alternative was unthinkable. At that time, he did not seem to be in much pain. There was never another incident like at the dog park. We waited and continued to put off surgery, hoping it wouldn't get worse by some miracle. But, in the spring of 2022, he declined quickly.
We're at a loss of how we can help our sweet Milo without financially throwing ourselves overboard. The only hope we now have is to be at the mercy of kind and generous friends, family, and strangers across the web. We always had the dream of Milo and our son growing up together. We know the dream is still possible, but we need to raise this money in order to make it come true.
