Jimmy the tamale vendor
Donation protected
Thanks to everyone who donated to help get Tomas through the pandemic shutdown. He's back in his same spot on the street but needs $250 for minor dental work so we're doing a mini-fundraiser.
Jimmy's tamale cart has been in the same spot on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood for the past 11 years, 7 days a week, 11 am - 6 pm. Tomas named his business "Jimmy" after his 3-year old son who was crushed when their home in Salvador collapsed during a tsunami. He and his wife were only able to save one of their two children. His surviving son still lives in Salvador.
