Mine Fire Gardens Operating Expenses
Donation protected
Minefire Gardens has been an important producer of eggs and summer produce for food pantries in Athens County Ohio for the past 5 years. We donate through Community Food Initiatives and directly. CFI recently awarded us A Golden Trowl to acknowledge our donations of 600 pounds of eggs a year for the past 6 years. We are their biggest supplier of free eggs.
We do our best to garden and raise poultry sustainably and organically - we don’t use power tools except for major builds - we work with pollinators, and have an elaborate composting system with our flock of 80 geese, chickens, and ducks at its center.
Over the course of the pandemic, we burned through all of our savings, and have no source of income. Our operating expenses come to $2,500 a month. We are trying to downsize our truck, but are stuck with it for now. We are planing to make trying to make capital improvements, if you'd like to donate to a fund for those, see our other fundraiser.
