Mineral County, MT Microchip Scanner Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Bessie Spangler & I've been helping rescue animals in Mineral County, MT for the past 5+ years. Unfortunately we do not have an Animal Control program in our county; so it's up to community members to come together in order to help animals when they are in need. I have personally been a part of numerous rescue missions with lost or stolen pets, held pets in my kennel when people were arrested, re-homed animals when their owner passed away, worked with other groups (Humane Society of Western MT) to help re-home and save these abandoned &/or neglected pets. I am the administrator & creator of the Lost Pets of Mineral County Facebook Group which was founded in 2016; this is a great tool to help spread the word when there is a lost/found animal. I am not affiliated with any non-profit group; I just do this because I love animals & want to advocate for them as they do not have a voice. My goal with this fundraiser is to raise money to obtain a microchip reader/scanner that can be held at the Mineral County Sheriff's Office. If we are able to raise more monies; we may be able to purchase another one as a back up or purchase crates or other supplies. It is my goal to work together with Mineral County to designate a safe space for an animal in need. There are many animal issues that need to be dealt with & it can get overwhelming just thinking about it. Shelters are full all over the country; vet costs & pet food costs are at an all time high; the list goes on & on. I hope one day we can have a space for an animal in need; whether it be an incarcerated owner, someone who was in a vehicular accident, or just a dog who ran off & the owner hasn't been located yet. All donations will go towards an animal in need or costs associated with them.
I recently helped with the two Akitas in the St. Regis area who are in my possession & need to be scanned for a microchip; I'd prefer to keep them here instead of transporting them to a vet to get scanned just to be sure they stay calm as they've already been through enough. Many generous community members and friends have reached out to see if they can donate for a microchip reader/scanner. I'm still in search of a scanner to borrow; but figure I should start fundraising for one to have here locally. I do have a Venmo you can also donate to: @bessiespangler
Thank you.
