Replacement minibus and multipurpose trailer

We are fundraising to purchase a replacement minibus and a new multipurpose trailer.

We have currently have raised £8,000 towards replacing the minibus and purchasing a multipurpose trailer but just need some extra help to reach our goal!

The cadets have taken on the challenge of fundraising too and are busy organising a spring fayre, a duck race at Pentewan and fund-raising stalls at Mevagissey and Fowey during the school holidays.

St Austell Sea Cadets supports young people between the ages of 9 and 18 to access training and personal development opportunities. Including (but not exclusively): skills for life such as first aid, food hygiene and catering qualifications, STEM activities, boat maintenance and seamanship qualifications, team-building challenges, competing at district, area and national levels in sports and Sea Cadet skills, participating in a wide variety of physical activities across the country eg kayaking, sailing, powerboating, off-shore voyages and mountain biking.

We are a self-supporting registered charity that receives minimal funding from the MOD. All our running overheads - insurance, heating, light etc and keeping a minibus on the road, are funded through our monthly cadet subs and fundraising activities throughout the year.

Without a minibus, 95% of the activities the young people are involved in will have to cease: cadets would not be able to attend day and residential courses, cadets would not be able to compete in sports and Sea Cadet skill competitions.

And, most importantly, it would mean that we wouldn't be able to go boating/sailing/kayaking as we wouldn't have a tow vehicle to take boats/kayaks and the cadets to the water.
