Minneapolis Medical Supply Drive

*update 6/2 10AM: we have closed donations to make sure we only accept what we can provide to our community, and leave more opportunity for ongoing community efforts. Today is our last day of the supply drive, as our clinic will re open tomorrow! So far, we have spent nearly $10,000 on supplies over the last 3 days! The remainder of the money will be used to support similar community efforts! We will update you when that occurs. Thank you again for all of your outstanding and generous support! Smiley’s Family Medicine Clinic  is organizing a medical supply drive for our South Minneapolis patients and larger community. We need your help funding this effort. All money will be directed to our South Minneapolis community.

Many of us have felt sad, disheartened, angry and powerless since the murder of George Floyd. We stand in solidarity to demand justice for George Floyd, and we also recognize the pain and loss being felt in our surrounding community because of damage to businesses and organizations.  Many residents in our community, including our own patients, have lost access to neighborhood pharmacies, grocery stores, and support services.   

In order to assist our community, we are joining with our sister clinic in North Minneapolis (Broadway Family Medicine) to both organize a medical supply drive and give out these items for free in our parking lot to anyone who needs them – including first aid care, diapers, personal hygiene products and over-the-counter medications. Please help us by donating to this cause. 

We will be there from 1:00-4:00 PM tomorrow, Tuesday June 2 The address is 2020 28th Street,  Minneapolis, MN 55407.

Everything right now takes away breath. Fear sucks it from our lungs. Viruses drag it out of our reach. Smoke wraps around it poisonously. People forcefully eject it from our throats. I have no answers today, but for those who can breathe, let every breath be a prayer.

Breathe justice into our streets.
Breathe peace into our country.
Breathe calm into our children.
Breathe safety into our black, brown and indigenous siblings.
Breathe joy into the space around you.
Breathe strength into our elders.
