Minnehaha Fire Memorial Fund
Donation protected
On August 2, 2017 Minnehaha Academy faced a tradgedy. There was an explosion at the North Campus (the high school). Two beloved staff members lives were taken in this unfortunate event, Ruth Berg and John Carlson.
Ruth and John iluminated the school with kindness and love. Ruth was always smiling and ready to help anyone. John cleaned the school with a smile on his face at all times. He often passed out Dilly Bars to students just to brighten their days. Ruth frequently took tickets at basketball games and John watched on the balcony above whenever he had time. Both Ruth and John will be greatly missed.
I am starting this campaign for their families. This is a devastating time right now. John has a wife and Ruth has children and a fiance. I would love to take part of the burden off their families by providing the funds for end of life costs as well and supplement the incom John and Ruth brought in for their families.
Please consider donating. John and Ruth did so much for their community. The least we can do is provide for their loved ones.

I am a Minnehaha Academy alum from St. Paul, MN who knew both Ruth and John. I remember John giving me a Dilly Bar in the campus room when I was in second grade. Everyday of my senior year I saw Ruth during announcements. Then after I finished my announcements, Ruth and I would chat and sometimes I would just skip class to talk to Ruth.
I intend to distribute these funds equally between John's Wife and Ruth's Daughter. I have their addresses and intend to send personal checks to both people so we can avoid asking for their bank account information. I have reached out to both families and they know these checks are coming.
